· fibrous proliferative lesion in plantar fascia
· may arise in isolation
· may be associated with Dupuytren’s diathesis
· proliferative fibroblastic lesion
· may resemble fibrosarcoma
· may recur after excision
· do not metastasise or become locally destructive
· present with painful lump in foot
· tender subcutaneous nodule found in medial half of middle of plantar fascia
· rarely causes contracture
· block resection of plantar fascia to prevent recurrence
· S-shaped incision to minimise disruption of blood supply
· block of fascia excised including
· lesion
· 2 cm normal fascia proximal and distal
